Choose to buy 2 Power Points (10 Karma) or 6 Power Points (30k) for your Mystic Adept. Second, spend for Power Points if you are a Mystic Adept: Check how many Karma you have left.If you chose any metavariant (Gnome, Oni, etc), metasapient (naga, pixie, centaur, sasquatch), infected (ghoul, banshee, etc), changeling or shapeshifter, pay their cost in Karma before anything else. First, check if the metatype you chose has a cost. Here is the spending order of your Karma: This Karma will not be spend to raise attributes and skills, to make things simpler. The next step is to spend all your Karma until your character has 7 Karma or less. So in their case they use the point-buy system with CABDE or CAEDB priorities. Also, the Bovine, Vulpine, Falconine and Canine shapeshifter would get too much Special Attribute points at Metatype (B) that would go to waste if they didn't want to focus on magic. So in their case they use the point-buy system with DABCE or DAECB priorities.Īpply Metatype (C) / Attributes (A) / Magic (B if focus on magic or E) / Skill (D) / Resources (E if focus on magic or B)Įxplanation: All Shapeshifters can be accessed with Metaype (C) but not (D). Since the Add-to-Ten system requires a 10 total, their Skill is the only one that was raised to C. So having a non-awakened human or elf with Metatype B would just make them waste some of those special points since they will max their Edge at 6 and can't spend anymore without Magic or Resonance. It would be impossible to use the ABCDE system without getting into problems regarding the potential waste of Special Attribute points and the access of certain Metatypes such as Trolls that require high Metatype priority.įor Humans and Elves (and all their metavariants):Īpply Metatype (D) / Attributes (A) / Magic (B if Awakened or E) / Skill (C) / Resources (E if Awakened or B)Įxplanation: Why a separate group for Humans and Elves? Because they get a LOT of Special Attribute points (those points for Edge, Magic and Resonance) and also Humans start with Edge at 2. So instead of using ABCDE, this particular one uses BBBDE or BBEDB. This entire system is based on the Add-to-Ten System from "Run Faster" supplement. The exact opposite occurs with non-awakened characters. If awakened, a character has Magic with priority B, and Resources with priority E. They also don't gain too much Special Attribute points with this priority, so there won't be a problem of Special Attribute points going to waste even if your character isn't a magician/technomancer.Īs you can see, a player choosing an awakened character changes some priorities. So the priorities are fixed according to some character choices.įor Orks, Dwarfs, Trolls (and all their metavariants) + Metasapients:Īpply Metatype (B) / Attributes (B) / Magic (B if Awakened or E) / Skill (D) / Resources (E if Awakened or B)Įxplanation: All the metahumans and metasapients above can be reached with the Metatype (B) priority. A mage needs a higher magical priority than a decker etc. But of course we can't use the same priorities with different characters. Priorities are locked and you can't change them. It is for quick creation, so that an entire group can create their characters within an hour and get ready for game night. I am sure more experienced players would choose different priorities, skills, gear, etc. Is this going to generate optimal characters? No, it will not. However it will apply some heavy limits on a lot of choices, specially regarding the A-B-C-D-E priorities, to streamline the entire creation process. It is not a house rule, everything uses the core rules as intended (with the "Running Faster" Add-to-Ten priority system). So I elaborated a fast and simple creation system. This is the complicated part, since we all know that Shadowrun 5th edition rules are very complex. However, new players may feel the need to create their own character. "Watch your back, shoot straight, conserve ammo, and never, ever, cut a deal with a dragon."Ī good way to introduce players to Shadowrun is using ready-made characters. Sadly our nova hot community isn't the best place to discuss the mechanics discussion or troubleshooting the video games. Mostly the pen and paper role playing game, but also the deck building card game, video games, and literature of Shadowrun. Discussion is primarily aimed at exploring narratives found in the Sixth World. Here at /r/Shadowrun we talk shop about all things in the shadows.
